Welcome to Softball Trak! This guide will help you track a softball game in real time, including recording pitches, plays, runners, outs, and innings. The app is fast and simple, so most actions need just a tap or two.
Page Layout Overview
Scoreboard (Top of Screen)
- Innings (1 to 12): Shows the runs scored by the HOME and VISITOR teams in each inning.
- R / H / E: Displays the total Runs, Hits, and Errors for each team.
- Balls / Strikes / Outs: Shows the current count for the batter.
- Pitcher Selectors:
- Left: HOME team pitcher
- Right: VISITOR team pitcher
- The total pitch count appears below each pitcher.
Field Diagram (Left Side)
- Displays all defensive positions, numbered 1 to 9.
- Shows which bases have runners on first, second, and third.
- The orange bat icon shows which team is batting. Tap the icon to switch teams.
On Base Section (Right of Field)
- Use the 1B, 2B, and 3B dropdowns to pick which players are on base.
At Bat Section
- The At Bat dropdown shows who is currently batting.
- After each at-bat, the app moves to the next batter automatically.
- You can change the batter manually if you need to make a substitution.
- The app shows the batter’s stats for both the game and the season.
Team Rosters (Far Right)
- There are separate lists for the HOME and VISITOR teams.
- Each list shows the player’s number, name, and position.
- Highlights include:
- Last: the previous batter
- At Bat: the current batter
- Next: the on-deck batter
Game Action Buttons (Bottom Left)
Use the buttons below to record plays:
- BALL, STRIKE, FOUL
- HIT, WALK, HIT BY PITCH
- OUT, ERROR, RBI
- STEAL, BALK, WILD PITCH
Play-by-Play Log (Bottom)
- This section lists every recorded action in the order they happened.
- The most recent play is highlighted.
- If you make a mistake, tap the Undo button to go back.
Getting Started
1. Set Up the Game
- Select Pitchers: Pick the HOME and VISITOR pitchers at the top of the screen.
- Choose Batting Team: Tap the orange bat icon. The VISITOR team usually bats first.
- Confirm First Batter: The At Bat dropdown selects the first batter automatically.
2. Manage Base Runners
- Use the 1B, 2B, and 3B dropdowns to show which players are on base.
- For example, after a single, pick the batter’s name in the 1B dropdown.
Scoring a Run
- When a runner scores:
- The team’s score for the inning anThe team’s score for the inning and their total Runs each increase by 1. base.
Recording Game Actions
Pitch-by-Pitch
- BALL: Adds one to the ball count. When there are 4 balls, the batter gets a Walk automatically.
- STRIKE: Adds one to the strike count. When there are 3 strikes, the app prompts for a strikeout.
- FOUL: Counts as a strike unless the batter already has 2 strikes.
- WALK: The batter goes to first base, and runners move up if forced.
- HIT BY PITCH: The batter goes to first base, and runners advance if forced.
Batting Plays
- HIT: Pick Single, Double, Triple, or Home Run.
- The app moves runners forward automatically.
- This increases the team’s Hits (H).
- The app moves to the next batter.
Base Running
- STEAL
- Select the runner who is trying to steal.
- Choose if the steal was successful or if the runner was caught.
- If successful, move the runner to the next base.
- If caught, mark the runner as out.
Pitcher Actions
- WILD PITCH
- You can move runners forward manually if needed.
- BALK
- All runners move up one base automatically.
Defensive Plays
- OUT
- This adds one to the out count.
- Select the type of out:
- Strikeout (Swinging / Looking)
- Ground Out (enter the fielder numbers, for example, 6-3)
- Fly Out (enter the fielder’s number)
- Fielder’s Choice
- Sacrifice Fly / Sacrifice Bunt
- Caught Stealing
- Picked Off
- When there are 3 outs, the teams switch sides and the other team bats.
- ERROR
- Pick the team and player who made the error.
- Choose error type.
- Team Errors (E) go up.
- You have the option to advance runners.
Managing Game Flow
Switching Batting Teams
- Tap the orange bat icon.
- Choose if you want to reset Balls, Strikes, and Outs.
- The player dropdowns update automatically.
Innings
- After both teams bat, the app advances to the next inning.
- Games can go up to 12 innings.
- If one team is ahead after the last inning, the game ends.
Pitch Counts
- Pitch totals go up with:
- BALL, STRIKE, FOUL
- HIT, HIT BY PITCH
- WILD PITCH, BALK

- VISITOR bats first
- Player A hits a Single
- Player A to 1B
- Hits (H) +1
- Player B Strikes Out
- Outs +1
- Player A Steals Second
- Moves from 1B to 2B
- Player C Grounds Out, Player A scores
- Runs +1
- Player D Flies Out
- Outs +3
- Batting switches to HOME
